Donald Anker “Donnie” Terry passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was 68 years old.

Born December 1, 1951 in Bennettsville, Donnie was a son of the late Doris Hester and Roy Clyde Terry. He was a lifelong member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Wallace. Donnie was a graduate of Wallace High School and Piedmont Aviation School in Winston Salem, NC. Upon graduation from Piedmont Aviation School, he went to work for his uncle at the Lumberton Airport as an aviation mechanic. He was later the lead mechanic with Aeronautics, a private aviation company in Wilmington, NC. Donnie served as the maintenance director for the Murphy Brown Farms fleet of aircraft and worked with Worsley Corporation Aviation as their aviation mechanic. He was also captain of their 65-foot yacht that traveled up and down the east coast. He enjoyed all aspects of aviation, especially being a recreational pilot.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents listed above, stepfather, John T. Poplin, and nephew, William C. Tolson.

He is survived by brothers, Ron C. Terry (Robin) of Raleigh, NC, Buzzy Terry (Vickie) of Cheraw, SC, Rick Poplin (Sue) of Knightdale, NC, Jack Poplin (Vickie) of Castle Hayne, NC; sister, Suzanne Parrish (Jack) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Wallace.

The family will receive friends briefly after the service at the cemetery.
