Mr. Wilson Taylor Brown, 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born on February 9, 1930, to the late George Merton Brown, Sr. and Cleo Taylor Brown. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. He devoted 21 years of service as a community pharmacist at Hartsville Drug Co., then at Wannamaker’s and his own pharmacy, The Prescription Center, in Cheraw.  He moved to Irmo in 1973 to join the Pharmacy staff at Richland Memorial Hospital.  He retired in 1994 as a supervisor. 

Wilson married the love of his life on April 12, 1952, the late Dorothy Matheson Brown. He was always a dedicated member of First Baptist of Cheraw and then Northside Baptist in West Columbia, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. His interests included reading, woodworking and traveling and camping across America. However, most of his free time was spent serving his family with joy and a servant's heart.  Wilson's kind spirit toward everyone, and his devotion to his friends and family will always be remembered by those he encountered. 

Wilson was preceded in death by his parents listed above; his beloved wife, Dorothy Matheson Brown; and his siblings, George M. Brown, Jr. and Virginia Brown.   

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lynn Brown (Evelyn) of Pennsylvania, Kathy Haile (David) of Clemson, SC, and 6 grandchildren with10 great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
