William “Bill” Grady Welch, 78, died Monday, July 30, 2018. Born in Eatonton, GA, he was a son of the late Frank Grady Welch and Jewel Clark Welch. He was a US Navy Veteran and retired from Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office. When Bill retired from the Associated Press, he was Chief of Communication in the Atlanta, GA Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He often volunteered at various community events.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. Welch, a sister, Ruby Johnson of Charlotte, NC, a brother-in-law, John T. “Pop” Burnette, of Charlotte, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, a son, John Andrew Welch, a brother, Frank Grady Welch, Jr., and sisters, Mary Mable Burnette, and Melva Burnette.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Kiser Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Kiser Funeral Home.
