Stephena Anne Adams Griggs, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Born, November 1, 1935, in Anson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Grover Washington and Ollie Boaz Adams.

Mrs. Griggs was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Cheraw, where she actively participated in the Nursing Home Ministry, Sunday School, and the Ladies’ Groups. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. A dedicated cosmetologist, Stephena served her community with distinction for over 70 years.

Along with her parents, listed above, Stephena was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Sterley Whiteford Griggs; and a son, Richard “Ricky” Griggs.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Roger “Kevin” Griggs and wife, Johanna of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Hannah Mock and husband, Nick of Greenville, SC, Courtney Griggs of Columbia, SC, and William Colt Davis; and great-grandchildren, Nash Mock and Collins Mock.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the cemetery prior to the service.
