Mr. Robert Stonewall “Bobby” Rogers, III, age 87, peacefully entered eternal rest at home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, with his family by his side. Mr. Bobby was born on December 16, 1936, to the late Robert S. Rogers, Jr. and the late Margaret A. Rogers.
Mr. Bobby exemplified dedication and service throughout life. In his younger years, Mr. Bobby proudly served in the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Commitment to excellence continued as he embarked on a remarkable 60-year career at Palmetto Brick, ultimately holding the esteemed position of Chairman of the Board. His leadership extended beyond the company to the broader community, as he served as Chairman of both the South Carolina Brick Association and the Carolina’s Brick Association. Furthermore, Mr. Bobby was a respected member of the Board of Directors of the Brick Institute of America and was honored by the Cheraw Chamber of Commerce as Businessman of the Year. He also contributed his expertise as a board member at Carolina Bank and Northeastern Technical College.
Mr. Bobby cherished the moments spent with family and friends, often enjoying leisurely drives around Montrose while listening to classic oldies. He was a big proponent of the Second Amendment, holding strong beliefs that guided his life. Yet, above all accolades and accomplishments, it was the love of his family that defined Mr. Bobby’s life. His heart was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, enjoying the simple joys of life. His love for his wife and children was evident in the countless memories they created together, particularly during their many beloved scuba diving trips.
Mr. Robert Stonewall “Bobby” Rogers, III, was preceded in death by his parents listed above and his son, Robert Stonewall Rogers, IV.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gerry G. Rogers of the home; his children, Andy Rogers (Amy), Grayson Cauthen, Nancy Griggs, Meredith Creech (Dean); 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Cheraw, South Carolina. A graveside service will follow at St. David’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
