Robert Joseph McKenna, 78, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026. Born, January 29, 1948, in West Palm Beach, FL, he was the son of the late Ralph and Eleanor Stevens McKenna.

A devoted member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cheraw, SC, Robert was passionate about dove hunting, fishing, and sailing. An adept gunsmith, he also held a Captain’s license and frequently ferried boats from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Caribbean. Highly esteemed as a home builder, Robert crafted numerous beautiful homes along the North Carolina Coast, leaving a lasting legacy. Known for his quiet and subtle sense of humor, he will be profoundly missed.

Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy McKenna Miller and Grace McKenna Moore.

Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 32 years, Rosalie Armstead Steele; nephews, William Moore (Tina), Ralph Moore (Angie) and Matthew Miller (Tim); a niece, Christine Moore Secundo (Mark); and many great nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be announced later this week.
