Robert Wilson Baucom III died May 12th, 2026. The burial service will be held Friday, May 15th, at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, starting promptly at 10:00am. Visitation will be held at NE Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, from 11:00am until 12:15pm. A memorial service will immediately follow.
Bob was born in Wadesboro, NC on August 11, 1942. He was the son of Robert W. Baucom Jr. and Eunice Bricker Baucom Guy. The family later moved to Hamlet, NC before settling in Cheraw, SC. Bob graduated from Cheraw High School, serving as student body president. He was active at First Baptist Church and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and was a member of Arnold Air Society and Pi Kappa Phi.
After graduation, Bob served four years in the USAF and then joined the FBI as a special agent. In 1982 he and his family moved to Columbia and he managed Caughman Farms for his brother-in-law. When renovations were completed, Bob began a career in real estate and was broker/owner of RE/MAX Midlands Realty.
Bob was a member of the Gamecock Club. He and his wife, the former Beth Caughman, his children and grandchildren, could always be found tailgating at USC sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons Brian Robert Baucom (Stacy), Kevin George Baucom (Catherine), and William Scott Baucom (Sherry).
He was known as Pop Pop to four grandchildren: Callie Elizabeth Baucom, Madeleine Claire Baucom, Clayton Wilson Baucom, and Lily Catherine Baucom.
He is also survived by sisters: Eleanor Scott Cook, Melanie Hughes (Michael), Marsha Porter (Brad), and brother-in-law Ed Caughman.
Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund at NE Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers, 601 Polo Rd, Columbia, SC 29223.
