Mr. Paul Timothy Ludlow Sr passed away August 25th, 2026. Paul was born on March 14th, 1942, to Edith May “Judy” Honour Ludlow. Paul was born in the sub district of Sedgley in the county of Stafford, UK. He departed the UK in late June 1949 when he was seven years old. He sailed to America on the S/S Washington and arrived in New York on July 1st, 1949.
Paul grew up as the only child to a single mother. As a child, Paul lived in Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia. He graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Atlanta, GA in 1960. He played on the football team and was a member of the key club. After graduating, Paul attended the University of Georgia. He also earned a Law degree while working at Lockheed in Georgia.
He married Sylvia Allen on March 16th, 1963. They had two children and moved to Cheraw, SC in 1977, where he was a member of the Cheraw Masonic Lodge. Paul worked for Stanley Tools for many years in various positions, including Plant Engineer of the Wastewater Treatment Operation and retired in 2002. After retiring from Stanley Tools, Paul worked as the manager of the Water Dept. for the town of Holly Hill, SC for several years. In 2002, Paul moved full-time to his lake house on Lake Marion. He lived in Eutawville until 2023. He moved back to Cheraw in August of 2023 to be closer to family.
He loved the outdoors. Paul was an avid fisherman. He loved living near the lake and going on fishing trips. He also enjoyed going night fishing. He loved taking his pontoon boat out on the lake and spending days with his family when they visited. Those days were spent swimming, fishing, and running over to Sweatman’s BBQ for dinner. He also was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan. If the dawgs lost, his entire day was ruined, and he would be irritable the rest of the day. He was an avid woodworker and built many beautiful pieces. Paul also enjoyed gardening. He loved homegrown tomatoes. He loved to travel as well. Some of his favorite trips include; Canada, Murrells Inlet to fish, Florida Keys, Steinhatchee, FL, Cancun, Mexico, Maine, Hendersonville, NC to spend time with his extended family, and the family’s Myrtle Beach trip in October.
Paul was very proud of his British heritage. His mother taught him to strongly uphold traditional British values. He took food etiquette very seriously, especially the way someone would cut their steak. Paul always enjoyed cooking when his family was in town. He was known for his “special” pancakes. As soon as the pancakes hit the table, they were gone in a matter of minutes.
Paul’s pride and joy were his dogs he had throughout his 84 years- Samie, Shultz, Steffie, Droopy, Holly, Lucy, and Boris.
Paul is survived by his two sons; Tim Ludlow of LaGrange, GA and Scott Ludlow (Lorretta Johnson) of Cheraw, SC, his three grandchildren; Cassidy Beavers (Taylor) of Lynn Haven, FL, Nicholas Ludlow (Kaitlin) of Sumter, SC, and Garrett Ludlow of Cheraw, SC. As well as his great grandchildren; Caroline, Carter, Waylon, and Adalynn. He is also survived by his best friend Pat Barham.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Kiser Funeral Home.
A private burial will be held at a later date in St. David’s Cemetery in Cheraw, SC.
