Michael Evans

Inman, SC

Michael “Mike” Eugene Evans, Age 71

The peaceful passing of Mike Evans on April 15, 2021, at Hospice House in Spartanburg, SC, reflected the person he was. His family and closest friends will remember him as a quiet man who loved, encouraged, and supported them. Mike worked hard all his life, fully committed himself to any task, always challenged himself to learn more, and slipped in a bit of humor when least expected.

Mike was born in Florence County, SC, to Eugene H. and Beulah Welch Evans on October 14, 1949. He learned hard, honest work early in life at his dad’s full-service gas station. He graduated from Timmonsville High School and was a proud alumnus of Clemson University (B.S.,1971 and M.S. in Management in 1972). His working career as a Purchasing Manager took him to Cheraw, Rock Hill and York in SC and to Peachtree City, GA before retiring in 2016 to Inman, SC. Since then, he had enjoyed spending more time with his two grandsons, playing more golf, following his Clemson Tigers, finding enjoyment in camping, and taking his dog, Winston, for a walk.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Kenneth H. Evans, and his sister, Susan Evans Hodge. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Fentress Evans; a daughter, Jennifer E. Reel (Jack) of Inman, SC; son, Kenneth Michael Evans of Knoxville, TN; step-son Jason Finison (Claudia) of Owings, MD; grandsons, Jackson Reel and Preston Reel of Inman, SC.
