The following obituary is being shared as a courtesy to the local family and friends of Maxcey "Woody" Roscoe. Maxcey "Woody" Roscoe, 79, of Bostic, NC, formerly of Cheraw, SC died Monday, July 27, 2026.

He was the son of the late Woodrow and Inez Loflin Roscoe of Cheraw, SC and was also preceded in death by a brother, Nick Roscoe of Cheraw. Maxcey retired from the US Marshal Service as a court security officer, and also worked as a local police officer in the towns of Hartsville and Cheraw, SC.

Maxcey is survived by his wife, Laura Roscoe; his daughter, Cindy Roscoe (William) Johnson of Cheraw; his stepson, Bucky (Ashley) Dudley of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three brothers, Bobby Roscoe and Tony Roscoe, both of Cheraw, and Vern Roscoe of Southport; there are 5 grandchildren, Aria Johnson, Brittany Bridges, Brad Spears, Styles and Dunes Dudley; and 4 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 2, 2026, at The House on the Hill, at Cheraw State Park in Cheraw, South Carolina. The family asks that all attending the memorial service wear casual clothing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
