Martha Elizabeth Young Newsom, 79, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Born in Orangeburg County SC she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Flowers and Mattie Lee Thomas Young. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, SC. She enjoyed reading and gardening.

Surviving is her son Dr. Shaw Newsom of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Ms. Patricia Newsom Moore of Cheraw, SC, Mrs. Shannon Newsom Stokes of Bluffton, SC and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Gilbert F. Young, William T. Young and Dr. Walter Lee Young

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the residence of Martha Elizabeth Young Newsom.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 13, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, SC.
