Malcolm Lee Covington , 89, died Monday January 7, 2013.  Born in Tatum, SC, he was a son of the late Charles Glen and Lottie Lee Dorsey Covington.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bennettsville, SC.  Mr. Covington was a World War II US Navy Veteran.  He was a skilled baseball player and helped the Bennettsville High School baseball team, as Captain, win the 1942 State Championship.  He was a player in the Carolina (Industrial) Baseball League.  He worked for many years with Delta Mills and retired from FCX.

Surviving are his wife Connie M. Douglas Covington of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Pamela (Pete) Baker of Cheraw, SC, Jan (Dougie) Rogers of Lexington, NC, a sister, Netta Sills of Camden, SC, grandchildren, Anna Baker Watson, Allison Rogers Nettleton, Todd Douglas Rogers, Rebecca Caroline Baker, and great-grandchildren William Ingold, McKenzie Ingold, Emily Kate Nettleton and Luke Wesley Nettleton.

The family will receive friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the funeral home chapel following the visitation.  Internment will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in McCall Cemetery, Bennettsville, SC.
