Mrs. Lena Smith Vance, 91, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022.  Born, January 19, 1931, in Kernersville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Ray Melton and Shirley Honeycutt Smith.  Mrs. Vance was a member First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Choir.  She was also a former member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC where she sang solos for funerals, and weddings.  Lena was an artist and when she was in High School, she was the Art Director for her Class.  She also loved to bake cakes for Hidden Treasures Restaurant in Cheraw, SC.

Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Vance, and her brothers, Ray Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Keith Smith.

Lena leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Jack Vance of Jacksonville, FL, and Robbie (Betty) Vance of Fancy Gap, VA; daughters, Gloria Turner of Cheraw, SC, and Shirley (James) Barefoot of Patrick, SC; a brother, Jack (Nancy) Smith of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Alison Line, Canady Thomas, Addison Taefi, Paul (Vincent) Vance, Emily (Yanetl) Diaz, Hannah (Jay) Vance, James C. (Stephanie) Curry, Jacqueline Curry Wilson, Jon M. (Emma) Turner, Trippe (Brittany) Harrington, Vance (Genesis) Harrington, Grace (Channing Lynch) Byrd, Zack (Madison Goode) Harrington, Jackson (Abyy) Harrington, and Sarah Barefoot; and great-grandchildren, Patrick Line, Tekin Line, Lucas Line, Klein Thomas, Blake Taefi, Alanna Taefi, Sophie Vance Diaz, Addie Vance Diaz, Charley Vance Diaz, Cole Curry, Kadence Curry, Lily Turner, Stone Turner, Easton Turner, Sonny Turner, Kline Turner, Samuel Vance, Wilson, Addisyn Harrington, Reed Harrington, Emmy Harrington, Payton Harrington, Olivia Harrington, Wesly Byrd, Nora Byrd, Ainsley Lynch, Madelyn Lynch, Emma Harrington, Anna Harrington, Arya Harrington, and Bash Harrington.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.  Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.  just prior to the service in the foyer of the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Vance family.
