Mr. Johnny Hilliard McQuage, 73, died on Friday, October 14, 2022.  Born, May 16, 1949, in Marlboro County, SC, he was a son of the late Willie Lonnie and Ida Mae Clark McQuage.  Johnny was a member of Cheraw Church of God and loved praying for and witnessing to people about the Lord.  He did upholstery work for 40 years, and enjoyed going to car shows, watching the Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR.  Johnny also enjoyed going to Hardee’s and McDonalds to hang out with his group of friends, but most of all, Johnny loved his family and spending time with them.


Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William McQuage, and Jerry McQuage; and his sister, Linda Sue Starling.


Johnny leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Wright McQuage; daughters, Tonya McLendon (Jeff) of Cheraw, SC, and Karen Griggs (Timothy) of Patrick, SC; a brother, Billy Joe “Crow” McQuage (Patricia) of Wallace, SC; a sister, Eva Hewitt of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Dylan Roscoe (Haley Austin) of Thomasville, NC, Ethan Griggs of Patrick, SC, and Raegan Griggs of Patrick, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.


The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home.


The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cheraw Church of God Building Fund, 100 Pecan Orchard Road, Cheraw, SC 29520.


Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the McQuage family in their time of grief.
