John A. Wells

Cheraw, SC

Mr. John Allen Wells, 81, died on Sunday, March 5, 2023.  Born, November 21, 1941 in Hollywood, California, he was the son of the late Ethel Frances and Homer Allen Wells.  Johnny as he was affectionately called by his friends, served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years as a Master Sgt. During the Vietnam War.  He loved building things and doing wood carvings.  Johnny had his private pilots license, and built a small airplane.

Johnny also worked building computers in the earlier years of technology, and built his dream home, the only strawbale house in South Carolina.  He was an amateur Ham Radio Operator, a left-handed Banjo player, and loved playing with his dog, Laddie, raising chickens and gardening.  Most of all, Johnny loved his Lord and read his well-worn bible faithfully.

Along with his parents, listed above, Johnny was preceded in death by his sisters, Cissy Wells, and Jean Willis Wells.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Kathleen Wells of the home; a daughter, Melanie Wells of Richton, MS; stepdaughters, Kimberly Wylie (Carl Wylie) of Greenville, SC, and Tiffany Crist-Studley (Greg Studley) of San Francisco, CA; and one grandson, Royce Lanaux of Richton, MS.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation; 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.

Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Wells family in their time of grief.
