John Victor “Rusty” George, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late John Victor George, Sr. and Agnes Vernon George. Rusty enjoyed a fulfilling career as an electrician at Cooper Tools-Weller. Fondly referred to as “Rusty” by his friends, and recognized in the amateur radio community as “WD4HEM”, he was an avid ham radio operator and the president of the Palmetto Amateur Linking System Network Association. His dedication was also evident in his involvement with the American Radio Relay League.

Rusty cherished his daily routines, notably his punctual enjoyment of a buffet lunch promptly at 11 AM and breakfast gatherings at various local spots, where he delighted in socializing with friends. His commitment to timeliness and precision was a defining trait.

He is fondly remembered by his sister, Rebecca Carlisle of Florence, and numerous cousins.

Rusty was predeceased by his parents listed above.
