IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Robert
Babecki
August 7, 1970 – December 16, 2025
Cheraw, SC
John Robert Babecki, 55, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Born, August 7, 1970, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of Julius Babecki and the late Sybil Barr Babecki.
John was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and graduated from Cheraw High School in 1988. Following his graduation, he worked at BC Moore and Glenn Manufacturing. After attending Frances Marion College, he pursued his passion for travel by training as an 18-wheeler over-the-road truck driver. For over 25 years, John enjoyed the experiences and connections he made while traveling across the Western and Midwest regions of the United States.
A devoted fan of the Florida State Seminoles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, John had a lifelong enthusiasm for technology and gaming. His interest in computers began in middle school, where he expressed his fascination with the Texas Instruments TI994a by discussing its capabilities with his family. This passion led his parents to purchase a TI994a for their home, inspiring many summer mornings spent with his siblings programming games featured in related magazines. John later embraced PC and console gaming, even acquiring a tabletop arcade reminiscent of classic games from his childhood.
John was also known for his culinary skills, particularly his expertise in slow-smoking meat. He revivified many treasured family recipes, notably those for South Carolina mustard BBQ sauce and BBQ hash.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Sybil Barr Babecki.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father, Julius Babecki; a brother, David Babecki and wife Kay; sister, Deborah Babecki; nephew, Kevin Babecki and wife Marissa; and niece, Peyton Babecki.
At the request of John, no formal services are planned at this time.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Babecki family in their time of grief.
