James Franklin Teal, 85, entered into rest with his loving family by his side Tuesday, January 5, 2021. He was a son of the late Preston Brooks and Nora Rainwater Teal. He was married to his devoted and beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce Harpe Teal. Mr. Teal was a State Constable for Chesterfield County and an Honorary member of the Chesterfield County Rescue Squad. He served in the South Carolina National Guard and was an avid attendee of his church. He was a loyal, dedicated member of the Men’s prayer luncheon. His passion was selling automobiles. He enjoyed watching Gamecock football and the Carolina Panthers. He loved spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He loved the Lord with all his heart, read his Bible and prayed over his family every morning.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Donna) Teal of Cheraw, SC, a daughter, Jan McLain of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Charlie (Barbara) Teal of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren, Sarah M. (Chandler) Huggins and Lauren McLain, a step-grandson Christopher (Ashley) Hunter, a step-great-grandson Bryson Hunter, and nieces, Helen Teal Mangum and Debbie Teal Woodard.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Teal was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronnie McLain and a grandchild, Jacquelyn McLain.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 8, 2021 at Maranatha Family Center, Cheraw, SC.
The service will be streamed live.
