James Thad Sellers, 72, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born March 6, 1954, in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Thad and Addie Mae Farmer Sellers.
James was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Cheraw and pursued his education at Wingate College. Throughout his career, he was committed to his work as a delivery driver, serving for many years with Flavor Rich and later with the Cheraw Packing Plant. James enjoyed simple pleasures including relaxing on his porch and watching NASCAR, with a special admiration for driver Richard Petty. Above all, he treasured spending quality time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sellers.
James leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Ashley Sellers (Brandon Chapman) of Hartsville, SC; sons, Benjamin Luther “Luben” Harrison-Sellers (Hanna) of Cheraw, SC and Richard Maurice Thomas (Cindy) of Cheraw, SC; and grandchildren, Zhady Harrison-Sellers, Roya Harrison-Sellers, Freya Jacobs and Reagan Chapman.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Westside Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC, with burial following in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Sellers family in their time of grief.
