Guy Livingston Watson, III, born October 24, 1937, in Laurens, South Carolina, passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 88. A man of quiet strength, steady faith, and deep devotion to his family, Guy leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and a life lived with purpose.

Guy graduated from Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina in 1961 with a degree in Industrial Management, before beginning a long and respected career with Corning Glass Works. He approached his work with dedication and integrity, earning the admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures that grounded him—playing and watching golf and cheering on his beloved Carolina Panthers and Clemson Tigers every football season.

His greatest pride, however, was always his family and the home he built with his beloved wife, Florence, to whom he was devoted for 49 years.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; his son Craig (Anna) Watson of Cheraw, SC; and Albert (Chelle) Taylor of Carolina Beach, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle (Cristina) Watson, Savannah (Josh) Coffey, Alexandria Taylor, Jacob Taylor, McKenzie Cunningham, and Will Ingold. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy, Arlington Coffey, Towers Coffey, Emilia Cunningham, and Hayes Cunningham.

Guy is survived by his sister, Deborah (Jack) Bain of Littleton, NC, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of family, memory, and love, along with sister-in-law, Jane Watson, nieces, nephews, and many cousins that he has loved throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eloise Jacks Watson, father, Guy Livingston Watson, Jr., his brothers, Philip Jacks Watson, and Kenneth Hendrix Watson and two sons, Robert Arnold Taylor and Richard Allen Taylor.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and the quiet example he set through a lifetime of hard work, humility, and kindness. His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence will continue to live on in the generations who loved him.

A private burial will take place later in Wilmington, North Carolina. The family will share service details.
