Obituary

Bennettsville, SC

Gloria Jean Hendrix Hutchinson, 76, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, was born on September 30, 1949, and passed away on September 13, 2026.

Gloria was the daughter of the late Edmund and Ida Hendrix. A woman with a creative spirit, she enjoyed painting and drawing and had a natural flair for decorating. She had an eye for making things beautiful and expressed her creativity in many ways throughout her life.

Gloria was the mother of one daughter, Bridgit Lenette Hutchinson McLeod and her husband, Barry. She was the grandmother of three grandsons, Landon Joseph McLeod and his wife, Allison; Caleb Zachary McLeod; and Holden Brett McLeod and his wife, Heather. She was also the great-grandmother of Callum Quinn Joseph McLeod, Lochlan Quinn Jeremiah McLeod, Mason Bentley Hall, Penelope Ruth Hall, and Cooper James McLeod.

She is survived by three sisters, Hilda Rae Hood, Mary Lee Bradshaw, and Angela Gaye Hubbard and her husband, Mike. She also leaves behind an abundance of nieces and nephews who adored her and affectionately knew her as “Go Go.” That special name reflected the place she held in their lives and the memories they shared with her.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Ida Hendrix; her sister, Loretta Southerland; and four brothers, James Hendrix, Bobby Hendrix, Billy Hendrix, and Wayne Hendrix.

Gloria’s beloved best friend, Dee Crowley, brought friendship, fun, and laughter into her days. Their friendship was a treasured part of Gloria’s life.

Her life was a beautiful gift to those who knew and loved her. The love she gave so freely will live on in her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends, woven forever into the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and the memories they hold dear. Though she will be deeply missed, she will never be forgotten.

The family will hold a celebration of Gloria’s Life at a later date.
