Ernestine Hewett Barnes

Ernestine Outlaw Hewett Barnes, 89, died Friday, November 4, 2022. Born in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late LeVan Outlaw and Eva Mae Hatcher. She was the widow of Robert Barnes. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC from 1957 to 2011 when she became a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church, Shallotte, NC. Mrs. Barnes was retired (after 46 years of service) from Highland Industries (James Fabrics). She enjoyed knitting, being with family and friends, walking on the beach collecting shells, making ornaments and lamps. She was the # one fan of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always going to baseball games, football games and encouraging her favorite dance team and cheerleaders.

Surviving is her son, William W. “Bill” (Beverly) Hewett, Jr. of Ocean Isle, NC, a daughter, Deborah Kerr Hewett Swedberg of Sarasota, FL and son-in-law, Daniel Swedberg of Oakton, VA, brother, Larry Gene Outlaw (Marie) of Oxford, MS, grandchildren, Dwayne Heath Hewett, Laura Hewett Little, William W. Hewett, III, Kelsey Cornelia Swedberg, Brittany Taylor Hewett, Kristen Marie Swedberg, great grandchildren, William Ty Little, Benjamin Kolbe Little and Virginia Mabry Little.

She was preceded by her parents and husband listed above, also, a daughter, Audrey Lee Hewett and siblings, Jeff Outlaw, Minnie Outlaw Hatcher, Lois Outlaw Layton and Junior Outlaw.

The family will receive friend 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
