Ellen Anderson Jones

Ellen Anderson Jones passed away peacefully in Palm Desert, California on March 24, 2015. She was born in Cheraw, SC on March 7, 1922 the daughter of the late John and Lillian Anderson. She was married at Cheraw Methodist Church where she grew up singing in the choir on June 16, 1945. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Courtland and a daughter, Joyce Anderson Jones; also her sisters, Katherine, Mildred, Huldah and one brother, Jack Anderson. She is survived by a daughter, Terry Jones of Palm Desert, CA, three grandchildren of whom she was so proud, Courtland (Corky) Wolfe, Kristin Ramsey, Lee Blum and eight Great-grandchildren.; her sister-in-law Eleanor Anderson, and nephews Jay, Todd and David Anderson.

After finishing her education and raising her children she worked for the U.S. Government for several years and had a successful career in Real Estate in California. Ellen was a gifted singer, artist and writer. Even having lived in NC, Iowa, Georgia and California, she toyed with the idea of writing about "growing up in Cheraw", a town she was so proud of and loved so much. She never finished writing her story but the memories she shared will be carried on forever by her grandchildren. She will come back to her beloved Cheraw for burial on April 18 th at 11 o’clock at St. David’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kiser Funeral Home.
