Edward Walter "Junior" Craven, Jr.

Mr. Edward Walter “Junior” Craven, Jr., 71, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.  Born, April 12, 1951, in Pinehurst, NC, he was a son of the late, Edward Walter Craven, Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Gibson.  Junior loved racing cars and watching NASCAR.  He also enjoyed watching Westerns and enjoyed working in his auto shop.  Junior was an expert in car repair, and everyone around knew that he was the one to come to for vehicle sales and repair.  He worked for may years in sales and with Nivens Hardware and Edwards Wholesale.  Junior will be remembered as always willing to help others.

Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Gibson, and a brother, John Craven.

Junior leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 50 years, Cathy Hatcher Craven of the home; son, Chad Craven (Alisha) of Wadesboro, NC; daughter, Kristin Craven-Redmond (Kernard) of Pageland, SC; sisters, Nancy Rheault (Bob) of Rockingham, NC, and Patsy Coburn of Elon, NC; grandchildren, Margie Craven of Columbia, SC, and Alexis Redmond of Pageland, SC; several nieces and nephews; racing buddies, Marion Watson, and Marty Stewart; and many friends.

A private graveside service will be held by the family.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC.

The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at Scotland Memorial Hospital, McLeod Hospital and McLeod Hospice for the compassion and care that they were shown during Mr. Craven’s illness.
