Mary Edelle Dixon Melton, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Burell and Emma Frances Dixon. She was the widow of Willie Thurman Melton. Mrs. Melton was the oldest living member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She loved her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd (Susan) Melton , Randel (Karen) Melton all of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Linda (Bob) Forehand of Prince George, VA, Lois (Paul) Van Guilder of Cheraw, SC, and Helen (Mike) Moody of Cheraw, SC, eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her husband and parents listed above, sisters, Bertha Linton, Bessie Johnson, Lurue Dixon, Marie Johnson, Geneva Gainey, and Dot Woodward, and brothers, Jim Dixon, Willard Dixon, Walker Dixon, John Dixon, Buck Dixon, and Edward Dixon.

The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 18, 2017 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
