Dorothy M. Teal

Dorothy Mae Hunter Teal, 91, died Sunday, February 5, 2017. Born in Lancaster County SC she was the daughter of the late Farris Hunter and Mary Alma Faulkenberry Hunter. She was the widow of Charles E. Teal, Sr. She attended Wingate College and was a graduate of Furman University. She was a retired school teacher having taught in Marlboro County School District and the Chesterfield County School District (24+years of service). She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Teal enjoyed yard work and gardening. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved the children in the community that she took care of over the years and was lovingly known by many as “Granny.”

From the February 25, 1949 marriage of Charles and Dorothy, three sons were born into the family. Her surviving family are sons, Charles (Janet) E. Teal, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Paul W. Teal of Lexington, SC, David (Cheryl) F. Teal of Clayton NC, 8 Grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, brothers, Maxwell Hunter, Donald Hunter, and a granddaughter Cheryl Teal Lukac.

The family will receive friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC

A funeral service will be held 3:00PM, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial will be in Teal’s Cemetery at Zoar United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC
