Charles S. McLendon, 78, died Saturday, January 28, 2023. Born in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Charlie Garrett and Ruby Hatcher McLendon.  Charles proudly served in the United States Army and then went on to work many years in various managerial roles in manufacturing plants.  

Charles enjoyed spoiling his family, loving on his beloved cat “Scooter”, and feeding any animal that wandered in his yard.  He loved to fish, hunt, pick his guitars, and be outside tinkering. His doting wife of fifty-four years, two sons, and granddaughter loved him so much. He used every opportunity he had to raise hell and he will be sorely missed everyday.

Surviving is his wife Alice Faye Guinn McLendon of the home.  Sons, Charles S. McLendon, II of Charleston, SC, and Bert G. McLendon of Austin, TX.  A granddaughter, Courtney M. Bullard, her husband Kelly, and great grandchildren, Blair and Charles Bullard.  A brother, Jack McLendon of Wallace, SC.  Sisters, Mary Louise Walker of Polkton, NC, Shirley J. Eline of Fayetteville, NC and Sheila A. Jones of Cheraw, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, brothers, Fred McLendon, James McLendon, and Billy Graham “Pete” McLendon.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 30, 2023 at Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery, Wallace, SC. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
