Charles Hyman "C.H." McBride , 91, died, Tuesday, December 25, 2012.  Born in Cheraw, SC he was a son of the late H.G. and Sara Eva Rivers McBride.  His was the widower of Sara Warden McBride.  He was a WWII Marine Veteran serving from 1942 to 1946 and was in the battle of Iwo Jima.  He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Mr. McBride was a member of First Baptist Church and had served in several positions, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, General Secretary of Sunday School, Treasurer, Pastor Search Committee (twice) and Budget Committee, also on the Stewardship committee of the Chesterfield County Baptist Association.

Mr. McBride served on the Cheraw Town Council for a total of 12 years and as Mayor of Cheraw for 10 years. He was a member of the Cheraw Arts Commission.

He served on the Board of Directors for Peoples Bank of Cheraw later known as First Citizens Bank (current chairman of Advisory Board).  He established McBride's Cleaners in 1947 and retired in 1981.  He was Past Presidents of the County, District, and South Carolina Associations of Laundry and Dry Cleaners.  Mr. McBride was a Charter Member of the Cheraw Civitan Club.

Surviving are, his loving daughter-in-law, Julia Conn McBride of Myrtle Beach, SC, several nieces and nephews, also special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife listed above, also a brother, James McBride and a son, Charles H. McBride, Jr.

The family will receive friends 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC.  Burial will be in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
