Alvin Brantley “Brant” Thompson, Jr., 76, died, Monday, January 23, 2017. He was born in Rockingham, NC, the son of the late Alvin Brantley and Mary Eunice Swails Thompson. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC. He was a US Army Veteran. He was an avid North Carolina Tarheel fan. He enjoyed spending time at Sunset Beach, NC, sitting on the porch in his rocker. He loved his family; the love of his life was his granddaughter, Ashlyn.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rich Thompson of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Christy Thompson Nelson of Charlotte, NC, April Thompson Conklin of Apex, NC, a granddaughter, Ashlyn Rebecca Nelson. He is also survived by a brother, Gene Thompson of Birmingham, Alabama and a sister, Sue Dunn of Salisbury, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and a sister Barbara Dunlap.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017 in the Caston Parlor of First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC.
Burial with military honors will be held in Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham, NC.
