Beverly Anne Coward McDuffie passed away February 27, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Beverly M. Marion, in Anderson, SC.

Born May 29, 1932, in her beloved hometown of Cheraw, SC, Beverly was the youngest child of Isabelle Rogers Coney Coward and William Clyde Coward, Sr.

Beverly grew up in Cheraw, Married and had four children. She began her professional career in banking with South Carolina National Bank (SCN) in Cheraw. In 1970 she moved her family to Columbia, SC for her children to attend the University of South Carolina as day students. To her credit as a single mother, all her children graduated from USC, as she continued her banking career. She was one of the first VISA representatives for SCN, traveling around the state to introduce merchants to the concept of a VISA card. She was perfect for the job as she was beautiful, friendly, and vivacious. She ended her career as a loan officer. Upon retirement, she moved to Greenville, SC to be close to her daughters and their families.

Beverly will mostly be remembered as a devout Christian and a devoted mother. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC. Her membership provided her with a foundation of faith, strength, and friendship. She considered herself most fortunate to belong to this church and to call Cheraw her home.

Beverly is survived by three children: Beverly M. Marion (Frankie) of Greenville, SC, Katherine M. Rogers (Mitch) of Greenwood, SC, and Michael C. McDuffie of Atlanta, GA.

Affectionately known as “BB”, she has four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Frankie Marion (Brooke) and sons Frankie and Gariel of Columbia, SC, Henry Marion of Greenville, SC, Preston Marion (Alexa) and children Brooks, Helen, Sabette and Henrey Alexander “Ace” of Anderson, SC, and Beverly Anne Rogers of Greenville, SC, many nieces and nephews and her constant companion and loving dog, “Poppy”.

She was predeceased by her oldest son, William Charles “Trip” McDuffie, her four siblings and their spouses, Isabel Coward Parker Forhan (Ernie), Kathryn Griffith Coward, William Clyde Coward, Jr (Jeanette), and Lucille Coward Savitz (Joe).
